[Pearl realized early on what a great opportunity this whole journal biz was. It was bigger than anything else that had come their way - competitions, the Champion of Sinnoh, the oldest living fossil - and he wasn't about to lose it.

He did some research, and here it is. The video begins with Diamond and Pearl sitting beside each other on a bed; Pearl's green scarf is especially prominent today, and Diamond's reaching for some snack box that Pearl's journal is currently leaning against.]

Say, Dia! Did you know today's something special?

[Diamond stops reaching and lays his hand flat on the bed. He can't eat while doing a manzai, or it'll mess the rhythm and Pearl'll get mad... He looks visibly disappointed for a moment, but it clears up before he speaks.]

Really~?

[Pearl nods as he talks, finger raised in a very I-am-telling-you-this-now-listen position.]

Yep! I heard earlier in the week that the seventeenth of this month - that's today! - is for "celebrating" some guy who was afraid of snakes, named Saint Patrick! So I did a little research at the library --

That's amazing, Pearl! [Diamond tilts his head; there's a fond smile on this kid's face.] Did you get Missy to help you?

-- What are you implying!? [Pearl scowls at him (Diamond just smiles wider), then continues on.] I read that in some worlds, people get pinched today! Unless they're wearing green, that is!

[Diamond blinks slowly, then looks from Pearl's green scarf to his own red one. That meant...]

You're safe today, eh Pearl?

[Pearl raises his hands like a Krabby's pincers, laughing.] Yeah, but what about you!

[Diamond gives a mock shriek and shuffles across the bed, raising his hands in self-defense SEND HELP!!]

It seems like I'm the one going to be in a real pinch today!

[Pearl cackles - is he faking it or is it real, nobody knows - and assaults his best bro with pinches, much to the very real displeasure of Diamond. Who then kicks the journal by accident in attempting to get away and off the bed, causing it to fall on the ground. Hope you like floors, Luceti.]

I've never heard of such a feast day. A curious tradition. May I ask, what is the purpose of the pinching? And was this man who was afraid of snakes tied in some way to the tradition?

which is just memorization but really, he's never been good at that. Just the stuff for the manzai stuck with him.]

The pinching's just for fun! [That's debaaaaaytable, from the background, and Pearl glares back. He's talking on his journal, quiet down!!] And he evana... Ev.... He converted his people or whatever into some religion or another, so they celebrate today in honor of him.

Is there a purpose then, to the green and the pinching? A symbol of this Saint Patrick's house? Or of his religious belief?

[All these different customs, and all these strange feasts and festivals from other worlds. Light, keeping up with them will be impossible.]

The green's for religion, I think. [The pinching was the only part he was interested in. It's good joke material..!] Or maybe it's just because he was from some Ireland place.

[Which is apparently green and orange or something?? God, worlds that aren't his own are weird as hell.]

[There's a moment where she's studying the camera, half smiling to herself. Her tone is light and calm, but she seems quite pleased with the information. Quite a bookworm, really.]

The library's got a lot of other information on other holidays too, but I wasn't really looking for that. You seem like the kind of person who'd like that though.

I do. I enjoy reading, it's a passion of mine. But speaking to people about things is just as good. Are there any holidays like this where you come from?

Nope. The beginner's manzai routine starts out with something physical to keep the pace though, like pinching or hitting -- but as you saw, Dia and I don't need that anymore.

[It.... was through some, er, unpleasant and highly worrying circumstances, but their jokes flow so much smoother now. It's nice.]

It's a duo comedy act with the straight man - me! - and the wise guy - Diamond! That's what we did for this post, actually! They're supposed to be pretty funny.

Oh. Well...I did say you were humorous, didn't I? I did not realize it was a routine. But I certainly found it funny.
